Hey Hey Hey, we're b-a-c-k-!

Well Neisha finally took off to Valdez for ASAG & Elyse and I took off to Kodiak for Teen Court Conf. While Lars and Trace got to tear the house to small pieces while we were gone! Neisha didn't get any pictures of Valdez but had to say it was worth visiting. Huge pines and huge Log Homes, She said that it's where I would love to live! YEA! The temp. is warmer than KC in the summer but gets alot of snow. We could actually snow board there. Anyway, Elyse and I learned alot about starting up a Teen Court in KC. It could help the youth get a spanking instead of jail time for their first offence, whether it be shop lifting or graffiti. They get a choice to have their peers sentence them to work hours or alcohol/smoking classes or working with the community to make everything right again. I am very excited to be involved in helping the youth become productive citizens instead of housing them in jail cells. Kodiak was beautiful, and they had a Bowling Alley! We hope to get a grant to get a 2to4 lane built in KC. Maybe in 20 years, but we're working on it!
Between Neisha and Our flights we can see why no one travels during the winter! HOLY!!! Two of our kids used MANY of the barf bags on the flight out of Kodiak. Then when we got to Anchorage the fog was so thick that no planes could land so we cirlced for 15 min. and that seems like forever when you are in the air 5000 ft and circling!!!!! Well we got to stay the night in ANchorage and go SHOPPING!!!! We all had a great time. Well we woke up the next morning and hurried to the airport and missed our flight, Darn it! SO we had to go watch a flick, . After the flick we shopped some more, Darn it! WE got back to the airport flew to Sandpoint then to COld Bay only to end up having to stay the night! THe weather was soooo bad that flights haven't gone out for 2 days! Well we woke up at 9:00 and the plane had a 15 min. window to get us to KC. So we went for it!!!! Trace missed me soooo much that he said, "Mom I am going to pray for you to come home tomorrow." And so I did! I love that little guy! It was a hairy flight but worth it! The kids acted as if we were on a roller coaster ride at Disney Land, holding there arms in the air and screaming! Hey this isn't Disney Land, this is life altering damn it! Well we landed sideways but in one piece. Man those pilots are awesome and quite INSANE~~ Peace Out!

Trace and his carved pumpkin, he did it all by his lonesome!Trace was 4 different ghouls. A Ninja, Blue Power Ranger, Yellow Samuri, and The kid off Monster House with black around his eyes and a black mustache! A Pirate! He actually went Trick-Or-Treating like that. Sooooo Cute! But no pic because it was after Elyse left with the camera. Elyse ended up wearing Traces ninja costume. Neisha was a curly, grey haired, pleasently plump mechanic! That's something Saije would do? I love ya Birdie!

King Cove takes Voleyball Tournament

It was the girls first Volleyball game of the season. They had visitors from Nelson Lagoon and Sandpoint. Their first game was against Nelson Lagoon and they son 3 out of 5. Their next game was against Sandpoint and they lost 2 out of 5. They then played the winners out of Sandpoint and Nelson Lagoon and it was to be Sandpoint. They turned around and won 4 out of 5 and sent Sandpoint home with a spanking! Neisha got the high score in most sucessfull serves, GO NEISHA!! Elyse did very well sacrificing her knees for those close to the floor hits, Thank goodness for knee pads! GO ELYSE! Lars and I were the side line refs. I'll never do that again. All I could do is yell for KC and get all up in the game! I wish I had a picture of Neisha at her finest while working in the Library, with her new glasses she actually looks like "The Naughty Librarian." But she just my smart little Nena! Neisha is leaving on a student council trip to Valdez, AK on wednesday the 11. ELyse is also leaving on Friday the 13 to play a V-game in Nelson Lagoon. I hope to have some photos to put on the blog when Neisha gets back. Over and Out!

Cj's sees first Caribou and Bear in Cold Bay, AK

Well the trip for a Caribou wasn't a total loss. Andy got a shot at the only one they saw and Josh actually hit it. They had to stalk it for quite a while and on the hunt the got to see a huge bear off in the distance. After taking the kill, they loaded the boat and back to KC they went. They arrived back in KC at about 12:00 pm. They were covered in blood and Caribou Hair, but wearing a grin. The next two mornings they went out to Belkofski Bay and brought back 15 silvers, Lenards Harbor and brought back 16. They have been fishing like crazy and are begining to sound like a couple of bawl babbies! Waaahh! I want my mommy! Well Cj leaves back to his mommy on Wed. I hope she has more sympathy than I do! Just kidding - I'll miss you Cj! Love Cherie

Paradise Lake

Today I went hiking with my friend Jane and her bro, Rudy. It was a 30 min hike to the top of Paradise Lake which is straight up! I have been trying to find any extra time to see the sights of KC, when it is warm! Jane hikes all over and has been kind to let me tag along because of my interests. Rudy carries the gun, Just Incase! There is soo much to see and in the fall it is BEAUTIFUL! I love this time of year! The one of me has Belkofski Bay and Pavilof Volcano in the back. The other is Lenards Harbor (the Silver Hole) and Cold Bay on the sky line.

The Hover Craft arrives in KC!

THe 9 million dollar Hover Craft named Suunx (means boat) arrived in KC before in begins to take people to and from Cold Bay today. They broke the bottle on the boat and gave everyone a 15 min ride in the Harbor. We all got on and went for a ride. It was fast and pretty smooth riding. It takes a boat 2 1/2 hours to get from KC to Cold Bay and the Suunx takes 18 min. Holy! It will cost 70.00 one way, the small planes are 90.00. (and same amount of time) I am a little worried how it will ride in the high winds, since it hovers over the water. I guess well see! It holds an ambulance or a few four wheelers. Lars will be spending alot of time hunting in Cold Bay, watch out Ptarmigan!

CJ in KC for the Larsen Boy's B-Days

CJ arrived in KC on Traces 6th birthday, what a cool gift. He had a loooong flight but a safe one. He visited us at school and hung out with Andy's class. They all call him a cowboy and ask him where his horse is. Cute, huh? He has rode the 4 wheeler around and got some good photo's. On Lars' birthday they got aboard the "Miss Molly" ( my boss' boat) and went Caribou hunting to the surrounding islands. I tried to get a photo of them putting the 4 whellers on. I hope that they are sucsessful in their hunt. We have had a great time catching up with CJ. Andy is in 7th Heaven with his Bro! The locals are always looking to show someone a good time and Lars & CJ got LUCKY! Well We had Mucks B-Day party today and had a good time. He has a great group of friends in Kindergarten.

Back to school

The first day of school the phone rang and it was for ME! It was Principal Smart. She learned that I was the ONLY one in KC that held a active CDL to drive a school bus. It was Traces first day of Kindergarten and he had to wake up at 6:30 and get on a bus in his PJ's and pick up every kid in KC. That job lasted 2 weeks. I began my day at 6:30 am, drove bus for the school, drove bus for Head Start, taught Head Start, drove all the kids in KC home after school, then drove the Head Start kids home, THEN..... worked at the grocery store until 7:30, THEN............................. came home ate dinner and got everyone to bed and then I was OUT! things have slowed down some what. I still work at the store but only Mon. Wed. Fri. and Sun. And I am still cutting hair. Lars finally got and Art class. He had a deal with the kids last year to grow his beard and don't shave it until school starts. I wish I had proof of that on camera. It was to his chest, ewww! Saije is in Utah to be in Band. She has been marching in parades and playing for Football games. GO SAIJE, YOU ROCK! SHe will be coming home after Christmas, I love you Birdie! Neisha is having second thoughts about graduating a year early. She may go back to Utah to graduate with her class if things work out for her. She could get a scholarship but she dosen't want to stay in AK. She wants to go where it is WARM. Poor Nena! Elyse was awarded the UA Scholarship for 11,000.00. WAY TO GO WEEZY! SHe is still envolved with sports and having a great time. Trace dosen't care much for Kindergarten. I think he had too much fun in Head Start and Pre-School! It is time to learn MUCK! I can't believe he will be 6 this year! Oh and Lars will be 40!!!! Holy Cow! It is going to be a good year!

July 4th and our Summer in KC

There are soooo many things going on in KC this month. Trace has been decorating his bike for the big parade. He won 2nd place! In the relays Trace won 1st in the bouy hop, 2nd in the baseball throw, but only because this huge gust of wind came up and blew it back towards him. Everyone yelled "He was robbed", but his best friend Harold won so it was all good. And he took 1st in the 30 yard dash. After the huge BBQ Lars and I were talked into the Tug-O-War and lost, but stayed dry because I let go. Then came the fishing derby and it was awesome to see the whole town fishing side by side around Rams Pond. Neisha's buddy Miranda took 2nd with a 10 1/2 inch. trout.
The girls spent the summer with Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents until August. Lars and I got summer jobs. I babysat two cute kids and worked at Gould's Grocery Store. Lars painted house's and delivered fuel for Newman Oil. We took a small break when my dad Bill came to KC with the girls on the Ferry. Lars and my Dad fished on Russell Creek and Mortensens over in Cold Bay which is a 2 1/2 hour boat ride from KC. They caught over 100 fish and met some wonderful people while there. The day they got off the Ferry Lars took my dad to the "Slilver Hole" and he brought home 30 fish. We spent the next 2 days, up til 3:00 am every morning, Brining, Smoking, and kippering fish. It was sooo awesome! We did it! It tastes soooo good! My dad said the guys at work are actually trying to bribe my dad with $ for the smoked fish he went home with. Dad also took some nice rides on the 4 wheeler and Trace was always trying to drive. ( Nicholi was on back of my dad and Trace, Oh and that is a Root Beer in his hand) My dad also got in on a great baseball game. I have been coaching Little League and we ended up with all ages and both boys and girls. I think dad and I almost had heart attacks! Those kids had a great time and we got together every Sunday for the summer. We also went on a tour of the local Peter Pan Cannery. We got to wear some awesome hairnets and paper jackets. The other 2 in the picture are the two children I tended for the summer, Kianna and Carter) I hope that you are back for some good reading this year! We Are Back!

Girls Go To DC!

Here are some shots of different places that we got to visit. The White House, Abe Lincoln Memorial, The Pentagon, Where Abe Lincoln was assasinated, and the WWII fountain. We had a great time and we also go to see the Botanical Garden and try on extra-small Bomber Jackets at the Air and Space Museum! We loved the heat and getting walking around in flip flops. Thanks for making our trip possible! We Love You, Love Elyse and Neisha!

Happy Easter

Aang Aang! Happy Easter! I hope that everyone had a special day. See in KC we do things a bit different. On Sat. the high school kids hide eggs in the elementary for the little kids. First they give out a easter basket full of candy, then they turn all the age groups loose in different sections of the school. Some eggs have prize tickets or money. Then after they have found them all they report to the library and collect on the prize tickets. Trace won a puzzle, which is Traces fave thing to do. Then they send you off with a soda of your choice and a cup cake. Every thing a kid needs to go home and drive their parents crazy! Then on Easter morning all the children discover their eggs then bundle up and take their Easter Baskets and go to all the neigbors homes and exchange an egg at each home. Then different homes invite children to their homes and have another egg hunt!
Holy Eggs! Any way Trace has had a great day, but not being able to run Grandma and Grandpa Larsen's 1/2 acre and find eggs in green grass is just not the same! Thanks for the great memories Lowell and Marilyn, we love you! And the one thing that Trace was really glad that he got for Easter was his DAD! Andrew has been in Hawaii for the last 2 weeks. He was the chaperon for the seniors at KC. He had a great time and got a tan. He went surfing and saw the amazing Arizona. There are probably more things that he did but he has jet lag so bad that all he could do was call Lou and Jam and wish them a Happy Easter and hit the sack. Poor guy? Later!

Elyse is off to STATE!

Well it's Elyse's first year playing basketball and she gets to go to state! Yup, the girl that thought each basket made was worth one point unless you shoot from the 3 point line! They played so awesome. She completely shut down anyone that was trying to shoot. She kept stealing the ball and making great passes, except the one were she passed the ball across the half court line and got over and back. Boy she has turned into quite the ball player. She said next year they are TAKING STATE! They took 2nd and some felt like complete failures, but the rest couldn't believe that they got a chance to play for first. I cried all through the game. So much excitement and I was so dang proud of them I just cried! They also took All State for the team with the highest GPA! They are awesome! I was a great feeling of pride to watch my daughter contribute to the game. WE LOVE ELYSE! YOU ROCK!

Alot is going on in King Cove!

Lars got his contract renewed for another year in King Cove! Yea! We are very excited to stay one more year. The girls will get to graduate with the kids that they have grown close to and not have to move AGAIN! Trace will get to have a great Kindergarten teacher, Mr. Schmit. We also have had the Boys Basketball Regionals here in KC, they took 5th. The girls traveled to New Halen taking 1st in Region and going on to State in Anchorage March 20th through the 24th. Elyse made 5 points during the tournament, A THREE POINTER & one other basket Go WEEZY! When she called me to tell me the good news she said mom I made a 3 pointer an a 1 pointer! I asked sow she was fouled and she said that she never got fouled, she made a basket between the foul shot line and the 3 point line!? She thought that each basket was 1 point. Yea I was confused also but not as much as she was. We all got a giggle out it! We love you Weezy!During Boys Regionals Neisha and I had the Pep Club/Dance Co. doing all three half time preformances. They did great! The age groups are 1st grade to 5th grade. And last but not least, Momma got to open each home game with the National Anthem! I sang it alcapella and scrared half to death that I would forget the words.Saije took the lovely picture of mom doing her thing. EEK!
